Can You Sell What You Crochet From a Pattern? Licences Explained
Many crocheters fund their hobby by selling finished pieces at markets or online. Before you do, check the pattern’s terms: the designer owns the pattern, and each designer sets their own rules for the items made from it.
The pattern vs. the finished item
Buying a PDF gives you the right to use the instructions — not to share or resell the file. Copying, posting or reselling the PDF is never allowed. What you do with the finished object is a separate question, and that is what the licence answers.
What our patterns allow
- Personal use: make as many as you like for yourself and as gifts
- Selling finished items you crochet by hand, in small quantities — yes
- Please credit MidnightHookStudio as the designer when you sell
- Not allowed: sharing, reselling or redistributing the PDF itself, or mass production

Good habits when you sell
- Use your own photos of your own piece
- Name the designer in your listing
- Price for your time: life-size pieces take many hours and kilos of yarn
